Sleep Apnea

Did you know that Obstructive Sleep Apnea can shorten your life span by 7-10 years? This condition affects more than 30 million Americans with fewer than 10% being diagnosed.

WHAT IS IT? Obstructive sleep apnea is when there is a collapse in the airway that causes one to stop breathing while they sleep. There is then a lack of oxygen throughout the body and the brain initiates the fight or flight mode and will alert you to wake up and breathe. Even though this can happen hundreds of times throughout the night, most are not aware it is happening.

HOW CAN WE TREAT IT? First thing first, how do you know you have it and what severity of sleep apnea do you have? We can provide an IN HOME sleep test device for you. This allows you to take the test in the comfort of your own home and bed - making it easier and not as expensive as the lab testing that medical professionals recommend. Once the Home Sleep Test is completed, we will send off the results to a sleep physician to give you a diagnosis and their recommendation of treatment (oral appliance or CPAP style machine).

Most patients who are diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea by their primary care physician are given a CPAP to wear nightly to bed. There are some patients who like their CPAP and are compliant with use, but there are more who are not compliant and are not wearing them. If you are not wearing your CPAP, then you are not treating your serious and potentially deadly condition.

Let us help you get a good night sleep without a hose and mask or the noise of a machine on the bedside table. An oral appliance can give you freedom to have a better night's sleep without being hooked up to a machine.
